Pink is for Power von Mari

Pink is for Power by Mari

Mari's Pink is for Power Sweater is just a dream in soft pastel pink! I absolutely love this project, especially because the design itself is so close to my heart 💖.

My gauge is off with 1 row per 10cm the sts are the same as in the pattern (26sts). I go ahead with this and make more rows to match the length.

I’m knitting the ribbing with 3.00mm needles. When casting on the stitches, I was using two needles together, making the stitches looser so that the edge will be flexible.

Back:
I’m doing the lace pattern here too which is a MODIFICATION of the original pattern. In order to do this, one just has to follow the instructions of the front part since both sides has the exact same amount of stitches and short rows.

Remember to note down the last row in order to have the same last row on the front.

Front:
A tip - I counted the knit rows at the front side of the back piece (17 for size 1) and this made it easier to count the stitches that needs to be picked up
after casting on the middle stitches:

Also I picked up in the middle of the stitch, not in between knit and purl (which is easier). In this way the knits and purls are aligned.

Sleeves:
Here are several mods - I’m going to have a bit longer sleeves (measured from top of the shoulder). They will be balloon sleeves, with the lace pattern 1.5 times before the ribbing which will also be tighter than in the original pattern.
Start the lace pattern 15 cm before the end of the sleeve. In my case when the sleeve measures 30cm.
After lace pattern row 12 reduce by k2tog, p2tog, repeat until 2 left, then k1, p1. 36sts. Start k1 wyb, p2 ribbing for next 8cm. Cast off with Italian bind off.

Sleeve is quite tight. 70 sts equals to 26.9 cm instead of 30 cm (2x15). In order to have the sleeve matching the armhole, there should be 78sts instead of 70. (This is now changed into the new pattern.)

Finished sweater:

My finished measurements are:
Bust circ: 90 cm
Neck opening: 47 cm
Upper arms circ: 25 cm
Cuff circ: 12 cm (I did modifications here)
Arm length (underarm): 46 cm
Neckline to underarm depth: 15.5 cm
Underarm to hem: 33.5 cm
Total length: 49 cm

My hemline and cuff ribbing are 6cm long.

My gauge of the final sweater seems to be tighter than my swatch, it’s 28sts x 37 rows which explains why my bust circ is off by 7.5 cm. I didn’t pay attention to this while knitting and trying it on since my bust is 80 cm. For me this 10 cm positive ease looks good.
What might explain being so much off is that I adjusted my knitting technique as I went. My yarn was so slippery, I made an extra loop around my pinkie to keep the yarn from slipping and this must have tightened my loops.
