Glückauf Schal Strickanleitung

Glückauf - SHAWL - Knitting Pattern

The shawl Glückauf is inspired by the history of the German Ruhr region and the traditional greeting of the miners. The design evokes the conveyor belts of the mines, while the smoky color reflects the blast furnaces. Knit it with Manx Merino Fine from Rosy Green Wool for a true piece of history.

Just a stone’s throw from my hometown lies the Ruhr region—once the heart of the coal and steel industry where many men found their work and purpose.

The traditional greeting among miners was “Glückauf” — a wish for safety and good fortune that’s still alive today.

This very greeting gives the name to this shawl, which carries the story of the Ruhr region within its stitches. Even now, old mines remain—some still active, others lovingly transformed into museums where you can admire the conveyor belts that once carried ore from deep underground to the blast furnaces.

The pattern of the Glückauf shawl is inspired by these conveyor belts, while its smoky colorway captures the atmosphere of the blast furnaces and the spirit of the miners.

Knit your own piece of Ruhrpott history with Manx Merino Fine from Rosy Green Wool—a yarn as soft and special as your new favorite shawl.
