Midnight in Berlin Schal Strickanleitung

Midnight in Berlin - SHAWL - Knitting Pattern

Midnight in Berlin is a stylish shawl with a braided pattern that transforms into stripes. Featuring a free Row Map for patients undergoing chemotherapy, it’s easier to knit. Inspired by evening walks in Berlin and made from Crave Yarns Caravan, it becomes a real statement piece!

Midnight in Berlin has a free Row Map included, which makes knitting more accessible for chemo therapy patients and others who struggle with their concentration. Find more information about my Row Maps on the info page.

As I was walking the streets of Berlin while teaching at the Berlin Knits Festival 2017, I couldn’t help but imagine this asymmetrical triangle shawl.

The basketweave mosaic section blends perfectly into garter stitch stripes, with a striking pattern combination reminiscent of Berlin’s cobbled pedestrian plazas and neat rows of buildings.

Knitting it with bold colors of Caravan by Crave Yarn (a yummy blend of merino, cashmere, camel and silk) makes it quite the eye-catcher!

Hi Brenda!

Thanks for reaching out! While there isn’t a specific video available for Midnight in Berlin, the pattern only uses simple, standard knitting techniques. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube for these techniques, such as the long-tail cast-on, kfb increase, and slipping stitches.

The entire pattern is clearly written out and charted, so you should have no trouble following along. Go for it, and enjoy the process!

Happy knitting!

Is there a video tutorial available to see how the stitches are cast on and the shawl gets started?
