This is another wonderful pattern by Melanie. I was very excited when I saw the yarn she used. Silk Cloud and Lunar or two of my favorite yarns by Shibui and I was very pleased to know that Madelinetosh now carried them.
Madelinetosh was very quick on sending out the yarn when I ordered it and very helpful when I called.
I love the texture of the knot stitch. I will say it is a bit time consuming, especially when you get closer to the end and most of your row is all knot stitches. As I was knitting it, I discovered the knot stitch was a little easier to do when the row before it was knitted with a looser gauge. Putting the six strands of yarn on your needle to do the K1, YO, K1, was difficult if the stitches were too tight.
I noticed that several of the test knitters cut back on the size of their shawl. I did the full size that Melanie has in the pattern, but I will tell you my shawl is very large. But I love it and I can’t wait to use it when the weather turns a little cooler. My final size is 100” X 35”
My remaining yarn is as follows: silk cloud, 11 g, lunar in colorway salt 22 g and lunar in colorway star scatter 38 g.
In the pattern, Melanie, has you move the marker on the wrong side of the shawl. I found it easier to do that on the right side.
One of the things Melanie suggest, is to do a yarn over after the first stitch of the row and this is something that I always try to do. I really does help to keep the edges smooth.
