Alpaca Fino – RAS Certified
Alpaca Fino is a wonderfully soft yarn made from 100% baby alpaca – the finest fibers for the coziest feel. With a DK weight, it’s a versatile all-rounder, perfect for creating snuggly, soft knit and crochet projects.
The fibers come from the highlands of the Peruvian Andes and are spun and dyed locally just for us, giving each skein its unique charm.
Alpaca Fino is RAS-certified (Responsible Alpaca Standard), an internationally recognized standard that ensures ethical treatment of animals, people, and the environment throughout the supply chain. The certification applies to the new color palette: shades 01, 41, 43, and all colors from 50 onwards.
This four-ply yarn delights with a smooth stitch definition, making it perfect for textured patterns, while it looks elegant even in stockinette stitch. The fine alpaca halo gives it an exceptionally soft hand, yet it’s surprisingly durable. Garments made with Alpaca Fino hold their shape beautifully and resist pilling.
Gentle on the skin:
Alpaca Fino contains very little lanolin, so many people with wool sensitivities find it comfortable to wear. It’s so soft you can wear it directly against your skin – no itching, just cozy comfort.
Colors:
Alpaca Fino comes in 26 gorgeous shades – from natural white (color 01, undyed) through soft pastels to deep Bordeaux and rich gray tones.
Great for:
Perfect for warming sweaters and jackets, as well as cozy hats, scarves, or other accessories that invite you to snuggle up.
My tip:
If you’d like to use a companion yarn, we recommend Alpaca Lace, Mohair Bliss, or Manada. Using slightly larger needles will create a beautifully fluffy fabric while also helping protect the main yarn from pilling.
