Pascuali Camel DK is an exceptionally soft, luxurious, and truly unique yarn, spun from the undercoat of the legendary two-humped Bactrian camels found in the Alashan region of Inner Mongolia.
Bactrian camels, often called the “ships of the desert” for their endurance and ability to withstand extreme heat and lack of water, are known for their long, lustrous hair. They have two layers: the outer guard hair, which is coarse and smooth, and the undercoat, which is soft and fine. Exposed to icy winters and scorching summers, these camels rely on their insulating undercoat to stay warm in the cold and cool in the heat. It’s precisely this layer—also called baby camel hair—that we use for our yarn.
Pascuali Camel DK isn’t your typical single or plied yarn—it’s a chainette yarn. Inspired by the textures and colors of desert sand dunes, it stands out with its unique qualities:

Thanks to its chainette structure, Camel DK is exceptionally light and stretchy. Garments knitted with it allow for free movement while bouncing back into shape, staying smooth and crisp without wrinkling. The chain construction also keeps pilling to a minimum. With fibers nearly as fine as cashmere and excellent thermoregulating properties, this yarn keeps you warm in winter and pleasantly cool in summer. And since camel hair is fully biodegradable, it leaves no trace of pollution at the end of its life cycle.
For ecological reasons, we do not pre-wash the yarn. Because camel hair contains natural oils, the yarn may feel slightly firmer at first, which makes knitting more relaxed. After washing, it reveals its full beauty. We recommend knitting loosely to allow the yarn space to bloom.
Pascuali Camel DK is available in eleven rich, natural, warm shades, carefully designed to capture the stunning variety of tones and textures in the sensuous desert dunes. Colors #10 (Walnut) and #11 (Beige) are undyed, representing the natural hues of camel hair.
