ITO Kido, the sock yarn with tweed character
ITO Kido is the sock yarn of the ITO collection, though to use it solely for socks would truly be a shame. The 100% natural Polwarth wool is exceptionally durable, heat-insulating, and perfectly suited for anything designed to withstand daily wear.
Since traditional sock yarn does not exist in Japan, the Japanese yarn designers searched for a fiber that is both hard-wearing and comfortable to wear. In Polwarth wool, they found a wonderful solution. The result is a yarn that works brilliantly for socks, yet is equally well suited for sturdy sweaters, cardigans, and other outerwear.
What makes Kido particularly special to me is its gorgeous coloring. The color combinations are reminiscent of classic English tweed, yet feel wonderfully modern and uniquely Japanese in their interpretation. Small flecks of color and a lively blend make even simple patterns look captivating, lending a timeless character to the finished piece.
