ITO Mizu, cotton with a genuine worn-in look
ITO Mizu is not a yarn that fits neatly into a box, and that is precisely what makes it so exciting. This single-ply, un-plied cotton gets its distinct character from a special dyeing process.
During dyeing, color is applied only to the surface of the thread and then lightly fixed, leaving the original structure intact. As soon as you start knitting, something really beautiful happens: the color changes as you work the yarn, revealing the original white cotton thread underneath in some places.
This creates a wonderfully lively, softly faded look that feels a bit like your favorite, well-worn pair of jeans. Subtle variations, gentle fading, or slight color transfer are all part of Mizu's charm, making every finished piece uniquely one of a kind.
I find Mizu particularly lovely for simple designs where the unique look of the yarn can really take center stage. With just 4 shades, the color palette is concise, but filled with character.
Mizu can be hand washed. I recommend washing your finished knit separately from other items, as the color may bleed slightly, especially during the first few washes.
